Finance
Upon completion of his PhD in Economics
from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Dr. Gradojević
joined Lakehead University in August 2003. He obtained his M.Sc. in
Electrical Engineering (System Control Major) from the
University of Novi Sad
(1996) and an M.A. in Economics from University of Essex and
Central European
University (1998).
During his career
he took positions at UBC (teaching and research),
Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis,
The Bank of Canada and as a consultant
in the financial and mining industries. In addition, he has held visiting appointments at
Rouen Business School in France and
University of Novi Sad, Faculty
of Technical Sciences. He is a Research Fellow at the
Rimini Center for Economic Analysis in
Italy. He has published his research in journals such as Journal of
Banking and Finance, Journal of
Empirical Finance, Quantitative Finance, Journal of Economic
Dynamics and Control, IEEE Signal
Processing Magazine, IEEE Transactions
on Neural Networks, Physica D and Journal of Forecasting.
Dr. Gradojević’s research interests
include international finance (market microstructure), empirical asset
pricing (option pricing), technical trading, non-extensive entropy, asset price volatility and
bubbles, and artificial intelligence (neural networks, fuzzy logic, etc.). In
2009, he received the Lakehead University
Contributions to Research Award
that is awarded annually to the top three university researchers. In 2010, he
received Merit in Research from Lakehead University. On September 27,
2012, with a team of researchers, Dr. Gradojevic published a report:
“Mining in Northwestern Ontario:
Opportunities and Challenges”
